Assi Ghat

Assi Ghat - Varanasi Ghat

Assi Ghat, Ghats packages India

Quite close to BHU (Banaras Hindu University), during the day it didn’t seem to be very interesting. Nevertheless there are Yoga lessons early in the morning as well as some musical performances. It gets its name from the Assi river which merges into Ganges nearby. Situated on the most southern end, Assi Ghat is one of the best ghats in Varanasi. There are some good restaurants and accommodation options around. The evening aarti here at Assi ghat is not as grand as at Dashashwamedh ghat but can make your mind blissful and stress free. Here you will forget your all worries and feel relaxed. This is one of the famous ghat in Varanasi and thousands of visitors gather everyday at this ghat to worship Holy Ganga river and in temples, this ghat is surrounded with Holy Ganga river. You will find small boat over there which are available for river tour and trip to other side of river. but there is no standard cost fixed so make sure you ask and bargain before you take a trip.

Morning Aarti at Assi Ghat :

Morning aarti at the Assi Ghat will probably be one of your best experiences at Banaras. Tere are two reason for it - First, it's not as crowded as the evening aarti at the Dashashwamedh ghat, so it's even more personal and inclusive experience. Secondly, the aarti is followed by recitation of hymns & a Yagyana (religious fire), a cultural programme (Indian Classical) and a Yoga camp (in that sequence) while sun slowly rises over the river Ganga. This is a daily event and free of cost to anyone who wishes to be part of it. Like so many diverse experiences at Banaras, this is one more that is simply hard to express in words. One can also take a walk to all other ghats depending on your stamina and time. One should not miss it during the Banaras trip.
