The name of Allahabad (Allahabad) in Sangam Nagar of Ganga-Yamuna has been changed to Prayagraj. According to the Puranas, Allahabad's first name was Prayagraj. During its rule the Mughals changed its name to Allahabad.

History

Allahabad is the ancient city of Uttar Pradesh. This ancient city is known for the confluence of the Ganges Yamuna Saraswati Nadio. This beautiful city is situated on the Sangam coast. History of Allahabad is very old and ancient. The ancient name of this city was Prayag on Allahabad Beach. Hainesang mentioned the geographical location of Prayag in the traveling record of 644 AD. The Chhwania was destroyed by the British in 1857 and there was a great loss to Allahabad.
After the Gadar, in 1858, Allahabad was made the capital of the North West Provinces. Allahabad eye witness to India's freedom struggle. Many independence movement was started from here. The foundation of the Indian National Congress was also kept in Allahabad in 1885. In 1920, Mahatma Gandhi started his nonviolence movement from Allahabad.
