Bodh Gaya is the most well known place in Bihar, if you look at international tourism.This is the only place in Bihar which is one of the two places of world heritage. This place is very reverend for Buddhists, because at this place, Buddha got the knowledge of the Buddha under the Bodhi tree. This thing is from the 6th century, due to which even today, for some 2700 years, this place is seen as a sacred place. Bodhgaya is situated near Mahabodhi temple. The Buddhist communities here are basically from diverse Buddhist countries, which have settled here. As a result, in the town of Bodhgaya, you get a glimpse of internationalism, compared to which the rest of the state is typical rustic. This is the place where the knowledge of under the Bodhi tree of Prince Siddhartha of 531 BC, Kapilavastu was received and after that all the world came to be known as Lord Buddha.By acquiring knowledge from here, he initiated his followers into Buddhism. There is still a tree which is here, it is said that the original Bodhi is the part of the vriksha. This tree is surrounded by a four-footed platform called Vajrasana. Bodhgaya is only 12 kilometers from the city of Bihar (Bodh Gaya is about 12Km from Gaya City. However, they are now one). Mahabodhi Bihar has 100 Buddhist stupas inside. This Buddhist monastery has a magnificent history. After taking the initiation of Buddhism, Emperor Ashoka had visited this Buddhist monastery. He also established a Buddhist monastery here. Later a temple was built here. From time to time, this temple has been restored. In 1860, when great archaeologist Kenningham Varansied this place, then the lower part of this temple was completely demolished. Then this temple was repaired and after a lot of hard work it was brought back to its old state.
Mahabodhi Temple :
Mahabodhi Temple is the tallest temple of Bodh Gaya, which you can see from any corner of the city. There are also many small structures around this high structure. As soon as you enter the temple premises, you will see a bookstore and many such shops and shops that are seen selling various types of artifacts. While going through the main entrance of the temple, you have to go through a security scanner and as soon as you move from here, the grand and beautiful structure of Mahabodhi Temple stands in front of you. The peak of this temple is brown and the peaks of other small structures surrounding it are pink and golden yellow. As you enter the main temple here, the Buddha's quiet pose idol welcomes you. On top of this statue is a special type of wood piece that is engraved with great beauty. The upper floor of the Mahabodhi Temple remains closed, but for some years before, visitors were allowed to go here.
Mahabodhi tree – Bodhgaya :
The tree of Peepal is present in the same place even today when Gautam Buddha received wisdom while doing penance in the lower part of the tree. The devotees experience peace by seeing this holy tree. Beside the Mahabodhi temple, that is, the Bodhi tree near the wall of the temple part of the temple, under which the Buddha attained the knowledge. But today the tree present here is the fifth generation of its original tree, which was brought back to Bodhgaya from Anuradhapur located in Sri Lanka. Near this tree is the place of Vajrasana, where Buddha meditation was attached. Sitting in the surrounding area of this tree, you can relax and enjoy the atmosphere here.
