28 km of Lumbini Kapilavastu, situated in the west, was the capital of Shroudhan. The son of Shakha Dynasty was the son of Shraddhan Gautam Buddha. There is a difference in the geographical location of Kapilavastu, the birthplace of Gautam Buddha. Presently it is difficult to determine whether Kapilavastu is located in Tilaurakot of Nepal or on Indo-Nepal border border in India, in Piprahwa. Although both of these sites are located very close to Lumbini. According to the current international boundaries, Kapula Vastu, the birthplace of Prince Siddhartha, can be one in both these places. Lord Buddha has spent more than two and a half thousand years of existence on this earth. The city of Kapilavastu disappeared and its discussion was closed only in history. In the year 1898, the British landlord W.C. If Peppe did some excavation, then his surprise was not limited, when it came to know that there is a stupa there. On the excavation of the stupa, a stack made of a square stone (Chowk stone) was found on which Ashokkram Brahmi script was written - "Sukti Bhatinam Bhaginika Nam-Sa-Put- Dattanamam Eiyam Salilila-Nidhane-Buddha Bhagwati Sakyaminam." Its historians have translated like this - "This character of Buddha God's bone remains is donated by Shakya Sukiti fraternity, his sisters, sons and wives." This character is still kept in the Indian Museum of Kolkata.
Kapilavastu - birthplace of many Buddha :
Apart from the remains of Nalanda University there is a lot to see here. The Tomb of Bihar Sharif, where annual ures are celebrated on the dargah of Malik Ibrahim Baya. You can also see the Nalanda Museum and Nav Nalanda Mahavihara. There is Sun Temple in Bargaon, located 2 km away and it is famous for Chhath Puja. The enthusiasm of people during Chhath Puja is similar to a feast for the photographer. The festival of Chhath is celebrated twice a year, during March-April and October-November. In the year 1951 an international center was established for Buddhist studies. Each year, Bihar State Tourism Department is organizing a colorful cultural festival from 24th to 26th October, where artists perform classical and folktales. The observers of art must purchase handmade beautiful Madhubani paintings.
Tilauracot :
Tilaurakote means the city of three pillars - Laura is a local language column. This city was inhabited after the Maurya dynasty. Because these are the three pillars that were established by Emperor Ashoka during the pilgrimage of Kapilavastu. It is said that Emperor Ashoka accompanied his side with a large number of records in his pilgrimage. Whenever they reached an important place, they used to establish these pillars. Through these records we got the information of that era and this place. When you reach Tilaurkot, you will see the western door of this fort, the meeting room, some basement, two stupas, a temple, some walls and the eastern door will be visible. From this eastern gate, Siddharth had abandoned his grand palace and associated royal life. Therefore it is also called Mahadwar.
Tilaurkot museum :
There is a small archaeological museum about 400 meters from Tilaurakot fort. This is the most basic museum in all the museums I see. The main artifacts placed in two chambers are:
- Stone Figures
- Statues of red clay earth i.e. terracotta
- Coins
- Gray and Red Fox
- Pearl
- Bricks used in various eras of history
- Objects obtained by excavation of caves
- Structure of hole found in Tilorekot
