The Bharat mata temple is a unique temple. It is dedicated to Bharat Mata (mother India). There is a unique representation of India with its terrains etc. This is a different type of temple which was constructed by the Babu Shiv Prasad Gupt and inaugurated by Mahatma Gandhi in the year 1936. Mahatma Gandhi said, "I hope this temple, which will serve as a cosmopolitan platform for people of all religions, castes, and creeds including Harijans, will go a great way in promoting religious unity, peace, and love in the country. There is a huge map of Akhand Bharat, before partisan. this map include Afganistan, Burma and many other places and shows them as part of India. Actually before British rule all these parts were treated as part of Hidustan. The statue of the Mother India is made up of the marble and looks like a model which symbolizes the entire India, representing Mountain, Plains and Oceans of the India. This temple does not have a traditional statue of Gods or Goddess but it has a real map of the Mother India. Thsi temple is welcoming to all castes which was unusual in India in the first half of the 20th century. It features an approximately 10m square map of undivided India including Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sir Lanke , Myanmar and parts of China. Scale is about 6 miles to the inch and the relief of the Himalayas and Karakorum are modelled. This temple is dedicated to Mother India. Beautiful temple with a 3D map of India makes it interesting. The temple is beautiful and interiors are wonderfully done. The main attraction is a three dimensional structure of undivided India placed inside the temple. Dedicated to Indian independence, this temple features a full map of British India from Pakistan down to Myanmar. If you are a geographer, you'll be impressed by the work involved. Since we were there to see the Ganges, it was also interesting to see the "big picture" of the Ganges River from inception in the Himalayas to exit into the Bay of Bengal.
