Jangamwadi Math is the oldest in all the monasteries of Varanasi. It is also known as Jnana Simhasana and Jnana Peetha. Jangam means the person who knows Shiva and wadi means the place of living. The monastery is spread in 50000 sq feet. In Jangamwadi math, there is a strange tradition about the establishment of Shivlings. Here there is no offering for Shanti Gita but for peace of soul. In this monastery, not a couple, but several hundred thousand Shivling sits together. Here the Shivaling is established for the salvation of dead people and for the peace of the famine's death soul. Because of this tradition of hundreds of years, more than one million Shivaling have been established under one roof. In Hinduism, the law is used in the religion. Shivaling is established with the same chanting. In a year, thousands of pilgrims are established by the devotees. Those who begin to spoil the Shivling, they are kept in a safe place in their monastery. This monastery belongs to the South Indians. Just as in Hinduism, people devote their lives to the salvation of their ancestors, similarly the people of the Veershiva sect donate Shivling for the liberation of ancestors. Shivlalinga is established in most of the month of Sawan. In this monastery, this tradition has remained unchanged for the past 250 years.
