Man Mandir Ghat was built in 1600 by Maharaja Man Singh. The old name of the ghat Somesvara ghat. Rajput King of Amber Raja Savai Man Singh built a palace and this ghat is named after him in the year 1585. The palace is very elegant and there is an astronomical observatory on its roof built by Man Singh’s successor, Jai Singh during the period of 1710-1737. It's one of the many Ghat's that are possible to see while you walk by the river of Ganges or if you take the boat trip. This is one of the 64 ghats in varanasi along river ganga. Man Mandir Ghat is clean, green and less crowded than it's nearby ghats (i.e. Dashaswamedh Ghat and Rajendra Prasad Ghat. Lots of Small Plant Pots are there. One can also a hire a boat from this ghat. The Main attraction of this ghat is Man Mandir Mahal (Palace) which is at a walking distance from the ghat. It is also known as Man Singh Observatory. It opens at sunrise and close at sunset. Man Mandir Ghat is another Ghat on the bank of river Ganges. The impressive architecture has historical importance. The Ghat is not as busy as the other ghats. We however saw some people in meditation, praying and taking bath. The water did not look very clean, but people do not mind taking their bath.
