Ramnagar Fort is a fort located in Ramnagar, Varanasi, India. This is situated on the east side of the river Ganges, which lies in front of Tulsi Ghat. This structure made of sandstone was constructed according to Mughal architecture. This fort was constructed in 1750 by Kashi Naresh Raja Balwant Singh. This fort is not currently in good condition. Since the 18th century, this fort is the dwelling place of Kashi King. The present king and the resident of the fort is Anant Narayan Singh, who is also known as the Maharaja of Varanasi. However, after the year 1971 his royal title was abolished. Ramnagar Fort was built by Kashi Naresh Raja Balwant Singh in 1750. Inscription on its outer ramparts has been inscribed on its construction date. Construction of Ramnagar fort was done by Balua of the creamy Chunar in the 18th century. It is built in accordance with Mughal architecture style, which includes carved balconies, open patio and unique pavilion. This building has been constructed from Chamarar Balua of creamy color. This fort has been built according to Mughal architecture. This fort has a Ved Vyas temple, a museum and a residential complex of the king. A south-facing temple of Hanuman ji in the south of the fort. This fort is built on high ground, which is above the flood level. There are many carved balconies, open courtyards and pavilions in this fort. Only a part of the fort has been opened for tourists and the rest of the fort is the residence of Kashi King and his family members. The flag at the top of the fort was hoisted at the palace of Maharaja Fort. Within the fort, there are two white minarets in the palace, for which stairs are used to reach. At the end of the stairs there is a vault and many courtyards through which white towers can be reached. The private residence of the Maharaja is on one side of the minarets while the meeting room and reception are on their other side. Kush inscriptions have been made on the fort walls, in which "Fortified House of the Rajah of Benares, with his state Boat" has been written.
Museum :
This museum is known as Saraswati Bhawan. The Darbar room and public meeting room of the fort are currently used as a museum. This museum receives rare variants of the American Vintage Kare, the seductive chairs, the work of ivory, medieval costumes, golden palkiya (palanquin, which is shaped like a lotus flower) embedded in gold and silver. Meeting on the back of the elephant in the museum, which is carved with silver, Jewelry, Kimkhwa Silk (Textile Made of Varanasi's finest product), an impressive arsenal which contains the old bandu of Sollaware, Africa, Burma and Japan etc. is present. There are old armored matchlocks, jewels, hookahs, daggers, pictures of Maharajao, black musical instruments which are now becoming white because they are not maintained well and are a rare, archetypal astronomical watch. This clock not only displays time, but also displays year, month, week and day As well as the astronomical description of the sun, moon and other planets. This clock was constructed in 1852 by astronomers at the court of the royal palace of Varanasi. In addition manuscripts, mainly religious works are present in this museum. Many religious books in Mughal paintings are a part of this collection. This museum has 535 paintings which express Islamic ethos, each of which is decorated with ornamental flowers design.

Because it is present at the beautiful place on the banks of Ganga, this fort and castle were used some time ago for the film's outdoor shoot. "Benaras" is one of the most famous films shot here. This is the 7th Pit Stop of The Amazing Race 18. This fort can be entered all day from 10:00 am to 5:00 pm in the morning. But entry of the fort during India's main festival like Holi and Diwali is prohibited.
